In depth

Verdict

Hula Ballew has been in fine form this season but the Michael Dods-trained mare may find life tougher under a 6lb penalty for her latest narrow success at Thirsk and a chance is taken with Heaven Sent, who is preferred to Miss Meggy. The last mentioned stepped up on her reappearance effort when running out the good winner of a Redcar handicap last time and has to be respected off her new mark. Whitethorne is entitled to be thereabouts but has to defy a career high mark to trouble the judge, while Tajaathub may do better now that the yard of Mark Johnston has had a few winners recently. Dispol Katie comes from the yard of David Barron that has been in good order but she needs to improve on recent evidence, while Siena Gold is entitled to come on for her reappearance but is not certain to stay this far. The vote then goes to Sir Michael Stoute's three-year-old Heaven Sent, who probably found the ground too testing at York last time and could be well treated for her debut in this grade.
