In depth

Verdict

Waiheke Island probably has the best form of the two to have raced previously having run a close second here over six furlongs at the beginning of the month but that form does not look to be out of the ordinary and it may be worth taking a chance with the newcomer Silent Waves, who is preferred to Musca. The last mentioned is a well bred newcomer from the yard of Howard Johnson and could be of interest but the yard's runners tend to need the run first time out so he may be best watched. Cape Dancer has a decent pedigree but trainer John Wainwright is hardly known for his success with first time out juveniles, while the John Weymes-trained Fleetwood Image may want a softer surface judged by his pedigree. Muncaster Castle was well held on his debut and the vote goes to Silent Waves. Mark Johnston has done well with his two-year-olds recently and this colt looks a likely type on pedigree.
