Verdict

LISTEN DEAR looks a potentially smart chaser. Willie Mullins' mare landed a Grade 3 novices' hurdle in a canter last October and didn't reappear until June when she beat a strong field of hurdlers at Down Royal. She has a chaser's pedigree so should do even better over fences. The Gatechecker has won a point, a bumper and a maiden hurdle and is another who should do well over the bigger obstacles as should Lucky Pat, who was in very good form when last seen over hurdles last summer. Mick Thonic looked like winning a similar race to this at Killarney in July but fell two out then made a bad mistake and his rider lost his irons on the same track. With a clear round of jumping, he could give the chasing newcomers a run.
