In depth

Verdict

David Pipe's Tino Tino showed much improved form when landing a Warwick handicap last month and, despite being raised 14lbs for that success, the four-year-old is taken to follow up here with the extra distance expected to suit and he gets the vote ahead of Quality Control and Fresh Winter. The last mentioned has shown gradual improvement over hurdles this term but has harshly been raised 7lbs despite being beaten by Viking Rebel at Newcastle on his most recent start last month. Alderman Rose ran better at Huntingdon last time but is another that has gone up in the weights despite not winning, while Carrick Oscar is unexposed after just two starts but seems a shade high in the weights. Ferdy Murphy's Quality Control has done everything asked of him in winning his last two starts but a 7lb rise for the latest of them looks harsh and preference is for Tino Tino.
