      Verdict

ATHWAAB had done all his winning on the all-weather until running out an easy winner at Nottingham last time under today's apprentice. That was only his sixth start on turf so could well be capable of better still despite a 9lb hike in the weights. Spic 'N Span on the other hand has now had 23 starts on turf without success and is consequently hard to fancy despite a recent double on the Fibresand, while Metropolitan Chief is dropped back in trip after a better effort over 6f here a fortnight ago. Radiator Rooney can race off the same mark as when scoring over C&D last May and could prove the biggest threat.
