In depth

Verdict

Svindal, Johnmanderville and Eden Park are the trio to focus on with Svindal, representing a trainer who had a two-year-old winner on Friday, taken to make a winning debut. Johnmanderville has the only form of any significance in the race, having finished last on his first start he then improved to be third last time. That was a fair effort, but it was only a six runner field and the form looks questionable so he is passed over. Eden Park looks a sprint winner waiting to happen if the breeding is to be believed. Closely related to several juvenile winners over the minimum trip, and trained by Michael Dods, whose string is in fine form, Eden Park can go well. Kevin Ryan had a juvenile winner at Southwell on Friday and he saddles Svindal, a son of Tomba, who will appreciate the cut in the ground. A half brother to prolific sprint winner Attorney, and out of a mare who won over the minimum trip as a juvenile, Svindal, with Neil Callan on board, is taken to score in this tricky opener.
