In depth

Verdict

DESIRE TO EXCEL has won three form four this summer and is taken to add to that tally at the expense of Burns Night and Drum Dragon. The Paul Cole gelding bids for three wins on the trot after winning back to back races at Leicester and most recently over course and distance. He is improving rapidly with race experience and can score again before connections ponder whether he is good enough to contest against Listed class horses. Burns Night has shown a decent level of form in his four races to date. He landed his maiden at this venue so has course and distance winning form and was not beaten far off a two pound lower mark at Newbury last time out so is worth noting in the betting market. Drum Dragon won his maiden at Hamilton on his latest start having shown a decent level of form in defeat prior to that. His rating of 73 looks a fair one so he warrants respect. However Desire To Excel looks a class above his rival and ought to take all the beating.
