In depth

Verdict

Disappointingly just the three runners have been declared for this maiden but every one of the trio has claims although David Simcock's KING OF REASON looks the most likely winner and is preferred to stable companion Tariq Too and Lay Claim. Sir Michael Stoute's colt has plenty of experience and has run some reasonable races in maidens and in a handicap two outings ago at Doncaster when chasing home Colonel Carter but he is becoming expensive to follow and looks booked for a place at best. In comparison, David Simcock's Tariq Too has only had two starts so far but stepped up from his debut outing at Lingfield when a fair third, beaten four lengths, in a Goodwood maiden last month and he has to be considered with the possibility of further improvement. Stable companion King Of Reason has the best form among the trio though having run a decent fifth in the Britannia last month and a reproduction of that effort may well suffice in this company.
