Verdict

LUCK OF THE DRAW is marginally preferred to Captain John Nixon with Optimistic Duke possibly best of the rest. Luck Of The Draw contested the same race at Lingfield as Brett Vale, who won this race for Sir Mark Prescott last year, but he could only finish fourth whereas Brett Vale won both events. He was well supported suggesting that he was expected to be fit enough to score at the first time of asking but, in the hope that there's a little improvement left in the tank as he switches to turf, he's given the chance to add to Sir Mark Prescott's impressive record at the track. Captain John Nixon landed a gamble impressively at Beverley and should be favourite for this contest on the back of that performance as the form of the race should stand up and he's undoubtedly well treated. He does drop back in trip though and that may prove to be his undoing. Consider Yourself, Optimistic Duke and Catbells may prove more effective now stepped up in trip whilst D'urberville beat Baoli who went on to win the race in which the selection was fourth but he has to prove as effective on turf as, indeed, does the selection Luck Of The Draw.
