In depth

Verdict

It's a very long way from Middleham and Mark Johnston has just one runner at the meeting, Hope Against Hope looked a certain future winner after good runs at Carlisle and Redcar and started favourite on her nursery debut at Catterick but ran so poorly it can't have been her form. DIXIE'S DOUBLE showed plenty of promise in her opening two runs before getting off the mark on fast going at Lingfield. She still looked in need of experience that day and looks to have plenty more in the locker. Bobby Vee has been steadily improving and landed a Leicester maiden after leading most of the way but Goodwood Crusader looks a more potent threat as he got no sort of run when well supported at Wolverhampton.
