In depth

Verdict

Free Style can follow up her Lingfield success against some uninspiring opponents including Kaliyoun, Cadeaux Rouge and Cantermerle. The first thing to point out is that Free Style flashed her tail when scoring at Lingfield in April, but that little kink did not stop the mare winning. She travelled well off what was a fairly strong pace to eventually gain her third success at the Surrey track, and although they have all been on the all-weather surface, she did win on Turf when trained in Germany. Her current handler reckons that the five-year-old will make a nice hurdler, and she can put herself in the shop window here with a follow-up victory. Kaliyoun's last race here has been advertised again by the winner Prairie Sun, but he was well down the field before we get carried away, and is hard to fancy even with the drop in grade. Cadeaux Rouge also turned out here last time, but was well behind Gold Guest. Cantermerle has been beaten at this level already, and so for the winner we return to Free Style.
