Verdict

Course and distance winner INDIAN CHIEF has been running better than form figures suggest and could prove really well treated here off a mark of 66 when one considers he ran off 80 only last August. His last run when fourth in a decent Carlisle handicap suggested that the ability remains and he makes plenty of appeal with Jack Egan booked. Mary Hambro has done a splendid job to bring Matravers back to some form with the former Stoute inmate off the track for two and a half years. He's shaped well the last twice, especially when third at Epsom, and it would be good to see him run well here. He is well respected. Frantical has an each-way shout whilst Ski Blast, lightly-raced in recent seasons, remains of interest after a better run last time. Evening Hill has only seen the racecourse four times and is an obvious improver against the older horses. He could well prove the main danger.
