In depth

Verdict

It is hard to see beyond Victoria Reel in this maiden where the biggest dangers appear to Barliffey and Street Devil. Victoria Reel put in an excellent effort last time when finishing 1/2l behind Cosmopolitan, the front three drawing a long way clear of the remainder. Although Cosmopolitan was making her debut, the second La Sarrazine had previously run well in smart maidens which gives the form some substance. Barliffey returns to maiden company but will relish this stiff mile. He did not enjoy the clearest of passages at Kempton last time but is more exposed than his rivals. Street Devil caught the eye when staying on well to take third place in what probably will turn out only an average Doncaster maiden last time. The fourth Gulf Stream Lady contests a Haydock maiden on Saturday evening and should give an indication of what Paul Blockley's charge achieved at Town Moor. Light From Mars is the only remaining runner who could be given any conceivable chance of landing this. A half-brother to the former smart Irish 2yr old Sky High Flyer, he will need to step up on his two previous efforts to land it. Addiena re-opposes Light From Mars after their clash over the course recently and hails from a local yard that have a decent record at the course and will be more effective in handicaps.
