Verdict

A race where cogent cases can be made for each of the runners and MIDLANDER (NAP) is taken to deliver a quickfire hat-trick. Mark Johnston's colt has thrived for the drop to the minimum trip and having seen off a number of more experienced rivals at Sandown last week, he can defy his 6lb penalty. Kassbaan staged a successful reappearance at Windsor, and having matured greatly over the winter, he could be anything. Horsforth and Jebediah Shine are noted for their early pace while the market is likely to tell us what to anticipate from Effusive. William Haggas' filly ran in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last season before disappointing on two subsequent starts.
