Verdict

Hillbilly Boy won three times last year, including this race, but is 13lb higher today and both the runner-up, Gabrial's Kaka, and fourth-placed Sound Advice re-oppose on better terms. Rene Mathis returned to winning ways in a conditions race at Thirsk and can race off the same mark here while Ice Slice scored over track and trip last season and is only 2lb higher. Lat Hawill disappointed in the Thirsk Hunt Cup last week but EL HAYEM (NAP) wasn’t beaten far despite finishing only sixth in the Newbury Spring Cup and Sir Michael Stoute’s charge gets the vote now from a decent draw. Calder Prince has slid down the weights but has had less luck with the draw and Call Out Loud was due to run here yesterday.
