DARK RANGER and Kiama Bay appeal as the likeliest winners with the first named preferred but there are plenty of unexposed horses to muddy the waters; Saharan Royal and Paddy Partridge are two to keen an eye on. This will be the fastest ground that Tim Pitt's runner has encountered thus far but he looks poised to go well if he handles the conditions. He returns to action on a 5lb higher mark following a ready victory at Lingfield and he looks capable of making further progress. Kiama Bay's victory came over a mile but he shapes as though this trip is within his scope and he seems certain to give a decent account of himself providing that the race doesn't come too soon. Paddy Partridge and Saharan Royal both make their handicap bows and would be of interest if attracting support; the former already has experience of the track and is better drawn than the Salaman runner who showed up well in maidens last term. All three of Mark Brisbourne's merit consideration too but we'll stick with Dark Ranger.
