Verdict

The last two winners have been drawn 1 and 30 while just one favourite has been successful in ten years. Three-year-olds have a fine record and Seanie isn't out of this despite having raced over longer trips as he won a big Sales race at Fairyhouse last season. There's a strong entry from the UK and Bajan Tryst has run very well here in the past though he's on his highest ever mark after his victory in a very strong Musselburgh handicap. David Barron is a master trainer of sprinters and his decision to put blinkers on BERTIEWHITTLE can pay dividends. The four-year-old looked the likely winner when cruising up in a Doncaster handicap last time but didn't go through with it and hopefully the headgear can have the desired effect. Luisant has won from much higher marks but was beaten a long way behind Arctic on heavy ground at Navan when Battleroftheboyne, who is 6lb out of the handicap here, was third. The winner was earlier behind Gordon Lord Byron who looks the main threat as he had anything but a clear passage in last week's Wokingham and wasn't beaten far.
