Verdict

Despite a reversal at Goodwood last time the feeling is that TUBBY ISAACS still has more to give and he can see off Cornus and Lucky Numbers. Dean Ivory's gelding is not the quickest of starters but he shows a great turn of foot late on in his races. Unfortunately the race just got away from him at Goodwood last time out but back on Town Moor he should have more time to overhaul those in front and win again, despite a lifetime high mark of 77. Red Cape continues to threaten without finding another elusive win, Cornus is 8lbs higher than his Thirsk win last time and that puts him into the realm of the unknown, whilst Methaaly runs this track well and this consistent gelding is not ignored after a Leicester win midweek. Rowayton's Hotham form reads well and she is edging down to a nice mark, Mrs Penny and Secret Witness are closely-matched on their run behind Drawnfromthepast at Bath, whilst Go Nani Go has always been highly-thought-of but the feeling is that he might need rain to be at his best on this comeback run. Go Go Green is 6lb higher than when winning at Pontefract last year and that may halt his progress, whilst Lucky Numbers is back up in the weights for a Haydock win over five furlongs and is another who now looks weighted up to his best. An open sprint then, but the vote goes to Tubby Isaacs.
