Verdict

MOUNT MCLEOD had numerous near-misses when trained by Jamie Osborne and finally got off the mark at the 16th time of asking over 7f here a fortnight ago. He would have won easier at tonight's trip and runner-up Whatyoumaycallit could give the form a boost in the opener. He can complete a quick double though Pierre D'or looks a threat. The three-year-old has returned to form in recent weeks and has been staying on strongly over the minimum trip. With a steady drop in the ratings and Kevin Manning again in the saddle he looks a danger to all. Dark Danger has gone 16 starts without winning but has run her best races on this track including last time where her early pace took her into a clear lead until 1f out. The lightly raced Fleet Captain may do best of the remainder.
