In depth

Verdict

Mostarsil continues in good heart and can complete a four-timer at the expense of Hawridge King, Blackmail and Estrelle. Gary Moore has placed Mostarsil to good effect on each of the gelding's last three outings, at Lingfield, Bath and Brighton, on each occasion under today's pilot Ryan Moore. He is a versatile sort who can win from the front or when held up, and despite another rise in the weights is taken to land this contest for a second time, having grabbed the spoils in 2003. Hawridge King has not run here before, but does handle a switchback surface, and has been placed on each of his two outings this term. Past course-and-distance winner Blackmail was four lengths behind the selection at Brighton last time, but is now 5lb better off so should get a bit closer, while Estrelle is still a maiden, and this well-bred filly might have to be stepped up in trip to open her account. All in all, it is Mostarsil that is the one to beat.
