        Verdict

        The Old Fella should safely open his account here, with Silca Soprano, Tudor Prince and Pagan Rules worth a mention at least. Richard Hannon is double-handed here, as he also runs Revisionist, but preference is much for The Old Fella whose two outings so far have been at Ascot. Fourth to Baby Strange on his debut, he then produced a remarkable effort at the Royal meeting when third to Elhamri in the Windsor Castle. Outpaced at the back until well past halfway, he finished like the proverbial train to get within a length-and-a-half of the winner, and over this longer trip, is going to take all of the beating. Silca Soprano has been a bit disappointing so far, but the Mick Channon stable is very much in form and as a half-sister to Keltic Bard, she will also improve for the step up in trip. She can chase the selection home ahead of Tudor Prince who only beat one home in the Coventry. Pagan Rules will come on for his Goodwood debut, but is up against a smart sort in The Old Fella who can justify his likely short price.
