In depth

Verdict

VIEUX LILLE won a bumper in November then scored twice on this track before stepping up to Grade 2 company on his next two starts. His ability to stay this trip has to be taken on trust but that's also the case with his main rival Chase End Charlie. The latter won a Doncaster maiden over 2m3f but was beaten a long way on a return visit and may need softer ground. Boa Island, a dual point-to-point winner, ran poorly on his hurdles debut here in November but could still snatch a place.
