In depth

Verdict

Torphichen will be strongly fancied for this as he followed a victory on the Flat at the Curragh with a battling success over fences at Gowran, though it's his close third to Realt Dubh in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown in December that points to his obvious chance. However, the concession of 21lb to KILFLORA may prove just beyond him and Philip Fenton's charge, who was having just his fourth start over fences when beating the fancied Killultagh Queen at Thurles, looks on an attractive mark. Edward O'Grady, who saddles Torphichen, also has a live danger in Armaramak, a close second to the useful Beau Michael on fast ground last July and likely to make further progress. Wickham Street disappointed at Clonmel but his earlier victory at Tipperary puts him in the mix despite being 3lb out of the handicap.
