In depth

Verdict

Subadar is taken to make short work of Cantique and Golden Platitude. There has to be an element of taking matters on trust when backing Subadar as he is making his first run as a three-year-old but his juvenile form looks to have a degree of class about it and he need only have maintained that level of form in order to post victory here. Cantique has had plenty of chances but has hit the woodwork on many. Small fields may suit but a substantial improvement is required in order to trouble the selection. Walter Swinburn won some big prizes at the weekend so Golden Platitude is given a cursory inspection in the market. The breeding suggests that this trip should be plenty sharp enough. Spinal Tap is nicely bred but might on breeding, require a bit more cut in the ground to be at her best. Chant De Guerre showed little for Philip Mitchell and is now tried under the care of Harry Dunlop. Subadar should be a class above these and is difficult to oppose.
