In depth

Verdict

The majority of those with experience in this have already shown form at a decent level but Mark Johnston has won three of the last 11 renewals and saddles a couple of newcomers this year. West End Charmer is a half-brother to a winning miler and Sky Defender has a Group 2 entry, though both were relatively cheap purchases. The Hannon stable has also won three of the last 11 but their last winner was in 2010. However, Glory was runner-up at Ascot on his second start, though Ryan Moore rides FOX POWER. The latter is a 450,000gns son of Dark Angel who has entries in some valuable sales races in the autumn. He’s a half-brother to two winners and should know his job so we’ll take the chance that he has too much pace for Duke Of Hazzard, who has yet to run a bad race and has achieved a rating of 95, and Haydock second Cloak And Dagger.
