In depth

Verdict

Alekhine is the pick over Compton Court, with Fasylitator and Fantasy Crusader best of the rest. Alekhine ran a sound race in defeat when chasing home Secretary General at Folkestone the time before last, and as the latter has since followed up, it is safe to assume that Jim Boyle's charge will run well here. Mind you there are plenty more in with claims including Compton Court who is going the right way based on his second to Prime Powered at Newbury last month. The form of that race has not really worked out well but the Balding inmate looks an improving sort. Fasylitator has found one too good on each of his last two outings but should be plenty fit enough by now, and Fantasy Crusader is at the right end of the handicap after his Banded win at Kempton. For the winner we return to Alekhine.
