In depth

Verdict

An interesting opener where there are a number of likely improvers including Cabinet, Samorra, Shot Gun and Fragrancy and we will take Cabinet to score. Sir Michael Stoute's runner improved on his debut to take a Lingfield maiden when odds-on last backend and on that occasion he looked as though further would definitely suit. He gets a trip here and should be fit enough to enjoy a winning reappearance. Samorra was a debut scorer over 6f here on soft ground almost a year ago to the day. Marcus Tregoning's filly has not been seen since landing that ordinary contest and with such a long lay off and doubts about the form we will oppose. Shot Gun got the hang of things at the third time of asking at Epsom last month and with confidence gained from that can be a threat, especially if the ground dries, while Fragrancy is stepped up a quarter of a mile after being turned over at Beverley last time and on breeding she should appreciate that. Watch for any market confidence, but without that knowledge we will side with Cabinet.
