In the opening race of Goodwood 2007, we will side with Emirates Skyline ahead of Greek Well and Night Crescendo. Championship Point is four pounds worse off with Emirates Skyline for having beaten him nearly three lengths at Royal Ascot although the latter could improve now for first-time headgear. The form of that Royal race is solid, though, with our preference being for the latter on this occasion. The John Smith's Cup fourth, Greek Well, can go well from the same mark as he raced from on the Knavesmire. Collateral Damage was just ahead of him there so also has to be given respect. Fort Churchill won well here last time but a nine-pounds rise in the ratings will make life tougher, and the lightly-raced Night Crescendo looked unlucky when third at Newmarket last time and, from the same mark today, is another to consider, although he has not been seen since that May run. Plum Pudding has been beaten from his revised mark, as has Dansili Dancer, although his fair track effort last time was over too short a trip of a mile. Zero Tolerance has returned to a winning mark, but Tabadul needs a career-best effort if he is to score. The handicapper may have got hold of Lake Poet now following two wins and, finally, Nayyir has a touch of class and is well-weighted if anywhere near the best of his 2006 form. For the selection, though, we will stick with Emirates Skyline.
