Verdict

Providing a draw in three isn't problematic, ROCK N ROLL RANSOM is taken to maintain his unbeaten record at the chief expense of Wadnaan; Shimmering Moment and Averroes are the pick of those at bigger prices. Luca Cumani's charge impressed on his debut at Nottingham before making a winning handicap debut at Salisbury, value for further than the official winning distance of a head. With that in mind a 5lb rise doesn't appear harsh and he's bred to get this trip, so with the trainer having landed this race in 2007 there are plenty of positives. Concerns about the draw are negated by a look through previous winners, with two of the last five drawn lower than five, and he looks set to go well. Wadnaan is clearly well-in under a penalty incurred for winning at Beverley on Tuesday, when he readily accounted for a lower class of rival. He made all that day and if Frankie is allowed to dictate here the likely favourite could shrug them all aside. Shimmering Moment has been off the track for a couple of months having taken second on his handicap debut in May. Not only does this race look more competitive but he's also up 2lbs, so while he is unexposed a place may be his best hope. Averroes is dropped in grade and his third to Verdant earlier on this year looks strong form, as does his subsequent second, so with John Fahy's valuable claim to help he can go well at a rewarding price. Kensei took a while to get off the mark and had looked held off lower handicap marks than this one prior to winning an ordinary maiden at Sandown, Roxy Flyer's most recent effort is solid form but she didn't look like winning and Valiant Knight is another climbing the weights despite achieving relatively little. Some of Monkton Vale's maiden form reads well and he arrives at the top of his game but Wadnaan and Rock N Roll Ransom look a step ahead of this bunch, with the latter preferred.
