In depth

Verdict

HULA KING is the pick with Alpha Tauri and Sham Sheer as the alternatives. Hula King was well punted ahead of his second appearance at Newmarket and while some punters won't have been pleased with a fourth placing obtaining, that did represent improved form and he can go on to take the spoils here. Alpha Tauri is a son of Aldebaran. Related to winners over further, the market will tell us plenty. Sham Sheer's near relations include the brilliant Rock Of Gibraltar. It would be unrealistic of one to expect him to be of that ability but at a sales price of 140000 guineas, it is to be hoped that he is of some note. Causeway King was well beaten in a recent Yarmouth maiden and doesn't look anything special. Noordhoek Kid ran promisingly on debut and is one to note for the future once handicapped. Hula King is the call in a race that could throw up a few fair types.
