Verdict

Repeater steps up in trip for his seasonal debut and, having gone close at Newmarket over 1m2f in October, looks to have leading claims. However, PROOFREADER is just preferred as he was eased down in the closing stages when scoring at Headquarters on his racecourse debut - John Gosden's charge is open to any amount of improvement. Fleeting Image won his maiden over C&D but Willie Wag Tail's victory at Kempton looks better form and the latter also makes more appeal than recent Ripon winner Choisan. Bute Hall and Gabrial The Great have both disappointed since winning their maidens and will have easier opportunities in the future.
