In depth

Verdict

The Lord can defy a six-pound penalty at the expense of Fromsong, with Seven No Trumps and Little Ridge others to consider. The selection lines up fit from a win at Musselburgh six days ago, and this one-time Brocklesby winner, who had not scored since August 2002, appears to have recovered his old enthusiasm. If last week's success was no flash in the pan, he can build on that for a profitable sprint campaign. Fromsong has topweight to overcome but comes from a stable very much in form at present, while Seven No Trumps, another that had been long absent from the winner's enclosure, landed a moderate handicap at Warwick despite his pilot putting up five-pounds overweight. Little Ridge could find no extra near the finish at Southwell in February and might just need this, and for the winner we prefer The Lord who can continue to turn back the clock.
