In depth

Verdict

A chance is taken with Diktatorship, who drops into this grade for the first time and is selected head of Ocean Rock and Three Boars, who are closely matched on recent efforts. A case can also be made for Height Of Spirits, who has winning form on the all weather but needs to show a lot more than he has consented to display of late. Three Boars has also acted well on the artificial surfaces and can be expected to give a good account of himself. This slight drop in trip may help him today and he is one to monitor in the betting. As is Ocean Rock, who made a successful return to racing last month after a long lay-off. He does look a prime candidate for the bounce factor though and needs everything to go his way. Therefore, it can be worth chancing that Diktatorship will be revitalised by the ease in grade this afternoon. Being by Diktat, he can be expected to at least cope with the surface and, with a lack of strength in depth amongst the rest, Ernst Ortel's charge makes plenty of appeal as sporting choice in an open contest.
