Verdict

This will take little winning and COLONEL MAXIMUS should be up to the task. Kevin Prendergast's charge ran quite well in both starts in September including on heavy going and showed up well for a long way in a strong maiden at the Curragh on his reappearance. A Likely Story looks the obvious danger though Dermot Weld's charge, who showed potential in his two runs last season, got bogged down in very testing conditions at Cork on his reappearance and today's ground will be no better. His stable companion Dalton Highway was also beaten a long way in that latter event though he'd attracted a bit of support in the betting. Chubi Chekker is out of a winning stayer and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him go well in a very moderate maiden.
