In depth

Verdict

Meydan Dubai may be able to win an interesting opener with Andaman Sunset the obvious challenger on the book although it must be a concern that both have had a few chances now. The selection has the highest official rating courtesy of his close up sixth in the Chesham on just his second start. He wasn't beaten too far on two subsequent outings over shorter but it was, nevertheless, disappointing that he didn't shed his maiden tag. This longer trip and surface should suit and he is persevered with. Geoff Wragg's colt posted some useful efforts last season but arguably the best of them was over a mile on soft ground on his latest start. As such, this drop in trip on a faster surface must be a cause of concern. Christophers Quest made a promising introduction but needs to improve considerably on the bare form whilst it will be interesting to see whether Dynamo Dave and Bombardier Wells will prove capable of better this term. Maghya is the most interesting of the newcomers but the Mujahid filly is opposable unless she attracts marked support and we expect the more experienced Meydan Dubai to hold sway.
