In depth

Verdict

Ralph Beckett has made a fantastic start to the season and Prince Of Delphi should be supported to reign supreme. He was unraced at two and had just two starts at three and a further four last year so can't have been the easiest to train. He's been a beaten favourite three times and is still awaiting his first win. However, it looks significant that connections are persevering and the combination of this track and the step up in trip are expected to work the oracle. Dvinsky is weighted up to the hilt at present and Quantum Leap, Affrettando and Anthill could emerge as bigger dangers. Quantum Leap doesn't have much margin for error from his current mark whilst there's every chance that Affrettando may be a bit ring rusty but Anthill should be all the better for last month's return. She belied her starting price to take second at a big price but she may have to settle for the same position again behind Prince Of Delphi.
