Verdict

This would appear to be a straightforward opportunity for Lord Chancellor but he's likely to start at odds-on so it may just be worth taking him on with MILE HIGH LAD. Mark Johnston's runner didn't really build on the promise of his debut over a mile at this track on his penultimate start but was very well backed to make amends at Southwell only to go down narrowly. The extra quarter of a mile on offer should compensate for his lack of pace and official ratings suggest that he's past the post. Mellow Mixture has been rather disappointing thus far and may not be able to find enough improvement for this slightly longer trip which only leaves Mile High Lad as a feasible alternative. George Baker's runner would be 9lbs better off in a handicap but posted a vastly improved performance when stepped up to this trip at Kempton. He does have it all to do but at the likely prices it's worth taking a chance that Mile High Lad can hit the spot.
