Verdict

MISTER NEW YORK is best placed to be the big apple of punter's eyes in a very open affair as My Gacho and Bahiano also in with a good chance. The selection for Noel Chance scored over distance in a slightly poorer contest last time at Wolverhampton where the colt is two from two. In addition to his chances he was a winner here in February albeit over a shorter distance but it was in a contest of this standard. Here he runs off a mark that is still lower than he's won off in the past which is yet another positive. My Gacho has been suffering at the hands of the handicapper and is still carrying five pounds more than he did when winning at Southwell three starts ago. Top weight here it won't be an easy task again but a placing over course and distance last time may be an indication he's getting to grips with his extra burden. Bahiano is a bit of a handful but put in a decent display at Newmarket on his latest outing. Some average performances on this surface means that he could follow that up with some more prize money here but doesn't look a winner. Compton's Eleven has a good each way shout if the price remains right after a good showing here in a better contest on his penultimate start with Mister New York getting the pick.
