In depth

Verdict

Not the easiest of getting out stakes and SGT ROBERTS is the pick with Eastern Aria and Brer Rabbit respected. The gelding was sent off a warm order for a handicap over 1m4f last time out but patently did not stay the trip. Back to two furlongs shorter, it is to be hoped that he can be back to his best this afternoon. Eastern Aria is sure to be popular from the Mark Johnston. She won readily at Southwell before being turned over spectacularly at Wolverhampton. Brer Rabbit had been tried around Kempton but seems to appreciate going left-handed as her run at Wolverhampton implies. This proved to be something of a stop start gallop on the day so caution about the form is advised. Diamond Twister won on his first foray over ten furlongs but there did not appear to be too many starts in behind. Mutually Mine took on some fair assignments in maidens last term so do not be surprised to see her supported at longer odds. Hold The Bucks has claims if capable of staying the trip but that hasn't looked likely on all known racecourse evidence. Sgt Roberts can pull rank here.
