      Verdict

      Only seven take to the track for this handicap, that brings an end to proceedings here and preference is for ISLAND CHIEF; Mohawk Ridge and Magical Destiny also make the shortlist. The selection is clearly in great heart of late, making the minors at the last four attempts including a win here just four starts ago. That was his first and only success to date but he continues to perform with credit and another win here would not surprise. Mohawk Ridge, who ran well to finish second from a poor draw two starts ago, again ran with credit last time finishing third in a Hamilton handicap. He is hitting some of his best career form lately and should make the frame here. Magical Destiny makes his handicap and turf debut here after three spins on the all-weather. He clearly has ability and market confidence would be significant.
