        Verdict

        None of these have been placed of late, and only a tentative vote goes to Lobengula over the likes of Attacca, Miss Porcia and Barataria. A 46-60 rated apprentice affair is hardly likely to set the pulses racing, but Lobengula, successful at Wolverhampton in January, has had just four outings since then, and lines up relatively fresher than most. His latest effort, when a close fifth to Wahoo Sam here just over a fortnight ago, entitles him to a bit of respect at least. Attacca beat Digital over seven furlongs here in July, and on recent evidence looks set to benefit from a step back up in trip, while Miss Porcia has shown a glimmer of ability but has an inexperienced pilot on board. Barataria in contrast can call on the services of talented Michael Stainton, and any support for him should be heeded. The pin though comes down on Lobengula.
