      Verdict

Bowing can gain a deserved first success, his main dangers possibly being Curlew River and Phoenix Reach. The John Gosden-trained selection has suggested that he is fairly useful and, despite attracting money for handicaps, including at Royal Ascot, has yet to score. Back in maiden company, his trainer looks to have found a good opportunity to boost his confidence. Curlew River has come up against a couple of useful rivals on his last two starts and should again go well. Phoenix Reach was beaten a head by Norse Dancer on his sole juvenile start, which reads very well now. However, the lack of a run this season might count against him - but watch the betting for clues. Of the others, Arresting was put in his place by Dubai Success at Ripon, but has place claims. Fame is entitled to improve on his Windsor debut; Gold Ring's form is a bit in-and-out but, at best, he too is in for a shout of some money; and Hashid in the interesting newcomer. Overall, though, Bowing stands out and gets the nomination.
