Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Not many line up in the best of form here, and it could be that Mucho Loco will prevail at the expense of Royal Citadel, Fratt'n Park and Namoos. Despite the size of the turnout here, not that many can be fancied, and a chance is taken that Mucho Loco will come good after knocking on the door on both starts last month. Jonathan Portman's inmate probably would have needed his run at Salisbury when a close second to La Fanciulla in claiming company, and ran at least as well in first-time blinkers when again runner-up, this time in a class 5 handicap at Chepstow. Both outings were on softer ground than he will encounter today, and the prevailing conditions here could be to his advantage. Royal Citadel is another that has caught the eye on a couple of occasions, and she too will appreciate the faster ground. Clive Cox's filly tried to make all in a first-time visor at Newmarket last time, and another prominent showing is on the cards. Fratt'n Park came close to breaking her duck at Goodwood six days ago and now has the help of Kieren Fallon, while Namoos could make her mark now that she tackles handicap company. They appear to be the main contenders, with Mucho Loco the pick of the bunch.
