Hill Spirit has been a model of consistency of late but has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper so may be best watched in a race where the vote goes to I'm In Love, who is preferred to Dr Thong. The last mentioned gained a deserved success at Southwell last time but this looks a lot tougher under his penalty so Paul Cole's five-year-old is probably best watched. Blue Java ran better at Leicester last time but could probably do with a softer surface, while Josie Marcus is less exposed than most of these but needs to improve. Carnivore is strictly held by Dr Thong on Southwell running, while Desert Dreamer, who was also behind that day, may struggle to give weight away all round. The vote then goes to I'm In Love, who was value for further than the winning margin would suggest at Lingfield last time and he is taken to defy his penalty.
