In depth

Verdict

Stuart Little makes plenty of appeal on pedigree but faces no easy task on his debut and a safer bet looks to be Go On Be A Tiger, who gets the vote ahead of Medicine Path. The last mentioned showed progressive form last term ending off the season with a creditable third behind Authorized in the Racing Post Trophy and has to be but may prefer a more testing surface to show his best form. Similar comments apply to Richard Hannon's Duke Of Tuscany, while it is difficult to weigh up the form of Without Excuse who showed improved form to win his second start as a juvenile but both of those outings were in Italy. Henry Cecil's Light Shift looks to be going the right way and is another to consider along with Roger Charlton's Monzante but it is Go On Be A Tiger who gets the verdict. Mick Channon's colt has a decent pedigree and made a good start to his career when landing a mile maiden here in October in comfortable fashion. Today's longer trip should suit the son of Machiavellian and Go On Be A Tiger looks the one to beat.
