In depth

Verdict

There were high hopes for Wymott last season but he proved a big disappointment after starting off with a sixth in the Hennessy at Newbury. He may do better this term but out-and-out stayer Poker De Sivola is best watched returning from injury and Nodforms Violet is upped in grade after wins at Cartmel and Perth this summer. Lackamon was in good form around this time last year and rediscovered his best in the spring. He was second off this mark at Ayr in April and can't be ruled out but the bottom three are all carrying more than their allotted weight, though Isla Pearl Fisher usually goes well here. BENNY BE GOOD didn't have much luck last season but faced some very stiff tasks. The handicapper has relented a little over the summer and Keith Reveley's gelding is fancied to make a successful reappearance in this grade.
