Verdict

PINATUBO may have enjoyed a physical advantage over most of his contemporaries last year but has reportedly developed further over the winter. His dam won over 1m3f so another step up in trip shouldn’t bother than National Stakes and Dewhurst winner, who can stretch his unbeaten record to seven. The Ballydoyle pair Arizona and Wichita look held on Dewhurst form but their stablemate Royal Dornoch beat subsequent Racing Post Trophy winner Kameko in the Royal Lodge here in September and up-and-coming Tom Marquand could enjoy a first ride for Aidan O’Brien. As well as the favourite, Godolphin also run Military March and Al Suhail who finished 1-2 in the Autumn Stakes here last season. Kinross is much better than he showed at Newcastle on his second start and Kenzai Warrior is well regarded and unbeaten so far so shouldn’t be ignored. Mums Tipple had looked very smart in his first two runs and finished lame in the Middle Park but may always be best at trips short of a mile.
