In depth

Verdict

Black Lotus did well last season but she reappears off a high enough mark and is best over 1m2f. The interesting one is MONTATHAM, who came to hand early last season, winning at Thirsk and Beverley. He’s had just the six career starts and should be suited by a mile this year. Cieran Fallon’s claim is a plus for Godolphin runner Jalaad but his only poor run last season came on the July Course here in August. Alfred Boucher rattled up a hat-trick last summer and handles fast ground but softer going would have suited King's Pavilion. Exec Chef has dropped 10lb in the weights since last summer so looks the pick of the remainder, though is still 2lb than for his last success.
