After just the three runs, PROMISSORY has the most scope of these and also the best recent form having chased home subsequent St Leger runner-up Sir Ron Priestley in the March Stakes at Goodwood when Blue Gardenia was only fourth – she’d won easily over this shorter trip at Doncaster previously. Star Terms was an unlucky second in this grade at Deauville last month having won a Listed race at Longchamp earlier. She may not have stayed 1m7f in the Park Hill last time and rates a danger. Simply Beautiful was also a winner in this grade at Cork last month but she’s disappointed twice since. Shailene has won in Listed company in Italy this year and was also successful in a handicap at Newbury last week so looks the best of the older fillies ahead of Spirit Of Appin.
