Verdict

A disappointing turn out for the decent prize money on offer but this looks a good opportunity for Sublimity to further his education with stablemate Adekshan as the obvious danger ahead of Mezuzah and Blue Patrick. Sir Michael Stoute's well bred three-year-old came to the racecourse with a tall reputation when making his debut at Newmarket's Craven meeting and looked likely to prevail having cruised to the front at the distance. However, the son of Selkirk showed his inexperience and threw away a winning chance, eventually finishing fourth having drifted the width of the track in the closing stages. He made no mistake next time when landing a York maiden in the manner of a smart colt and, with further improvement anticipated, Sublimity should prove hard to beat under Kieren Fallon. Adekshan has not been seen since running as though something was amiss when last of six in a Listed event at Ascot in October but had previously shown useful form to defeat Franklins Gardens in a Yarmouth maiden. With the stable in such flying form it would be no surprise is this half brother to the smart Adilabad proved capable of better but may find this an inadequate test of stamina and looks the stable second string on this occasion. Mezuzah ran disappointingly on her Kempton reappearance after refusing to settle and now has something to prove while Blue Patrick showed useful juvenile form but lacks a recent outing and his yard has been quiet this term.
